Trust & Verification Policy
What photo, email, guardian and account-history checks establish, and how temporary photo captures are handled.
1. Types of check
Silarah may offer profile-photo review, verified-email confirmation, verified-email Guardian connection and established-member indicators. Silarah does not collect phone numbers, government IDs or biometric templates for these checks. They do not establish legal identity and are not a comprehensive background check.
2. Temporary photo captures
The optional photo check uses three guided captures: look at the camera, give a gentle smile and blink once. Normal glasses, hijab, niqab and culturally modest clothing are allowed. An accessibility fallback lets a member capture a step when smile or blink guidance does not work.
3. Human decision
On-device face signals provide capture guidance only. An authorized human compares the temporary captures with the current primary profile photo. An on-device score never grants or rejects the badge. Silarah does not create facial embeddings or templates, perform government-ID matching or estimate age from a face.
4. Badge meaning
A Photo verified badge means only that temporary captures reasonably matched the profile photo at the review date. A verified-email account confirms control of an inbox at that time. Guardian connected means the invited verified-email account accepted the one-time code. These signals do not certify character, intentions, marital status, finances, criminal history or safety.
5. Security and retention
Temporary captures are stored privately and shown to authorized staff only through short-lived previews. They are deleted from active verification storage after review and no later than 48 hours after submission. Silarah retains the decision, dates, reviewer audit and deletion result without retaining the captures.
6. Changes and appeals
Photo verification is paused when the primary profile photo changes or a credible impersonation concern requires review. Members may submit again or appeal through safety@silarah.com. Include the account email and decision date, but do not email photos, passwords or OTP codes.
7. Regional availability and messaging rules
The initial service launch is India-only. Accounts use verified email; Silarah does not collect or verify phone numbers and does not require KYC. Women message mutual matches free. Men need active paid, referral or authorized testing Premium to send. Guardian invitations are one-time, expire after 7 days and can only be accepted by the invited verified-email account.
